Around fifty vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.

Vehicles, walls and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they stated in a release.

Officers report they were alerted late on Wednesday, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored liquid.

The substance had been placed in the form of a banned symbol, they stated.

Law enforcement then discovered multiple other smeared automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws banning the public display of Nazi symbols.

Law enforcement report early analysis show the substance was most likely human bodily fluid.

"There is still no indication as to where it came from; authorities are presently not cognizant of any physical harm in association with the incident," they commented.

Local authorities stated they were attempting "to solve the case" and have requested to the community for tips.

An important representative said the attack left him without words and had to be resolved quickly.

"This incident affects the center of Hanau and revives the trauma of the right-wing attack in 2020," he posted on social media, mentioning the killing of nine victims by a gunman targeting individuals of immigrant origin in February 2020.
