The Animated Series' Showrunner Has Seen Fans' Second Season Predictions — And She Has Good News

The much-anticipated second season of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel launches on Prime Video this week, and audience theories has been rampant.

Season 1 presents a diverse group of personalities residing in the afterlife, pits them against each other with musical numbers about their clashes, and establishes heated competitions and angsty, affectionate connections that drive audience devotion.

The fandom's stated hopes for season 2 differ greatly, but certain threads recur frequently: Will Angel Dust break free from Valentino? Might we learn more about the binding agreement affecting Alastor the Radio Demon? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?

"Naturally, I don't make the show with fan service specifically in mind," the showrunner commented recently. "However I believe that me being a fan of my own show implies there's a lot of it just naturally. I also am eager for these things, and I want some of these things to occur, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"

She reveals her long-term vision is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have already been green-lit by Prime Video and A24, which produce the series.

That could imply viewers have to be patient for some of the biggest payoffs — but they could be shocked at how quickly season 2 progresses, and how much of what they're waiting for happens this season.

"I believe people are going to get a lot out of it," she adds. "We get some firsts. I think we receive some incredible disclosures, some fascinating backstories, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience additional musical numbers from the previously silent cast members."

The creator is well-informed of the theories and desires about the upcoming season — particularly in the format of audience prediction charts.

"I've seen a couple people make a prediction grid about season 2," she says. "Obviously I won't share it, but I've actually done some of them, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."

Hazbin Hotel the second season launches on Prime Video on October 29.
